About Us

In 1980, EMT Barret Wicklund and his employer, John Ringdahl, needed a more economical means of acquiring type II ambulances for their EMS service in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. The two men had an idea, joined forces, and founded Ringdahl & Company. They began building their own ambulances and discovered there was a market for their products. In addition to the quality products being produced at Ringdahl & Co, in 1994, Ringdahl & Co. became a dealer/distributor for Horton Emergency Vehicles.

The Company

In 1996, Barret Wicklund became President of the company when he bought Jon Ringdahl's share of the company and changed the name to Premier Specialty Vehicles. The new name reflected the company's commitment to selling only premium products and emphasized sales beyond just ambulances. In 2000, Premier Specialty Vehicles became a distributor for American Emergency Vehicles (AEV) ambulances, providing a mid-range priced ambulance.

The People

Premier Specialty Vehicles is a small but very efficient operation, with dedicated employees that take great pride in what they do. Barret Wicklund, in addition to being the president of the company and running the day-to-day operations, provides outside sales and support for his previous customers. Barret and his wife have three grown children and three grandchildren. Some of the support staff you may come in contact with are:

Darin—he is the service and parts manager and has been with the company since 1990.
Dan, Joel, Ryan, and Logan—they are the service technicians and have been with the company since 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022 respectively.
Mark—he started as a service technician and now is the lead sales person and customer support manager; he has been with the company since 1999.
